education / experience: bachelors degree in graphic design or related course of study. two-four years experience preferred
software: mac based. all applicants should have a mastery of InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop. Basic understanding of html and an ability to edit a cms website as needed. Adaptability to new software, techniques and styles is key. microsoft office
principle duties & responsibilities: The graphic designer must have an understanding of the principals of design, layout & composition, typography and color and be able to generate functional, authentic, beautiful, original and innovative work in addition to emulating the styles of existing client work and brand standards. They must have solid oral and written communications skills.
Daily responsibilities may involve any aspect of the design process from initial meeting to final production of work. This can include but is not limited to research, brainstorming, sketching, conceptualization, design development, design implementation for identity development, print and web, basic copy writing, typesetting, illustration, photography, photo manipulation, proof reading, and design production. Designer must be able to keep accurate time records. They must be efficient, flexible, pro-active and innovative.
Project descriptions range from simple production projects to brand systems including identity development (logos), stationery systems, invitations, brochures, books, magazines, newsletters, sales collateral, event displays, responsive websites, web graphics, motion graphics, video and other materials. Designer must be able to work under pressure of meeting deadlines, manage multiple projects from start to finish as needed, work collaboratively and communicate effectively with other s design team members, collaborative partners, as well as clients if needed. Projects must be produced on time and in budget. Attention to the smallest detail is a must.
All employees are expected to be enthusiastic, professional and able to work closely with others. They must have good judgement and initiative, be able to follow a logical thought process, think critically and explain clearly. They must have strong listening and problem solving skills, and be able to prioritize and organize.
