Mazaheri Law Firm offers legal services and representation in the areas of employment, immigration, family law and bankruptcy. The firm is multi-ethnic and bilingual, and is well-regarded for their knowledge in a wide range of legal issues and their client-centered, compassionate approach. Consequently, Mazaheri’s services are beneficial to diverse groups of people.

The mark for Mazaheri needed to be professional, classic and authoritative, yet also very approachable. It was also important to communicate diversity—found in the areas of practice, the client base and the lawyers themselves—without focusing on any specific practice area.

The Mazaheri mark is the combination of a condor and a stylized M. The Andean condor, the national symbol of Colombia, as well as many other South American countries, is known as the eternal bird, symbolizing liberty, sovereignty and power. In the M shape, it simultaneously pushes itself to greater heights while enfolding its enormous wings (10-foot wingspan!) to shelter and shield those less powerful. The use of the condor applies specifically to Mazaheri’s diverse background and celebrates the principal’s own cultural heritage. Simultaneously, the condor emphasizes the firm’s formidable strength as a bird of prey, as well as its unbending compassion as a symbol for shelter and protection.

With such a unique and personalized mark, the name of the Mazaheri Law Firm carries with it the power and mystique of the Andean condor.

Site Technologies, LLC—known to their customers as “Site Tech”—is an information technology (IT) company providing services to medium- to small-sized businesses. Site Tech’s business is to provide solutions, both product and service based, that save the client money, either through efficiency or reducing IT infrastructure. Site Tech alleviates client stress over technology and operations by handling any issues as they arise. Unlike their jargon spewing competition, Site Tech prides themselves on their ability to communicate with clients at a high level, and therefore ensure that the proper solutions for each client’s needs are implemented.

In visualizing the logo, it was important to make sure the name clients see matched the name they said, as repetition and memory play an important role in brand recognition. We made the mark include the full name Site Technologies, LLC, ensuring any name recognition their full name had was still intact, but made the words “Site Tech” stand out. Since being easy to understand is such an important aspect of their company culture, we make sure anyone could quickly understand from seeing the logo that Site Tech was an IT company, by highlighting the letters “IT” within the word SITE. The brackets around the mark represent programming language, but also make a square around the IT, an abstract representation of a room, and show that Site Tech offers locational IT services.

Since they implemented their new identity, they have become the “it” information technology company in the Indianapolis area.

While there are many exceptional child advocacy organizations in Oklahoma, The Exchange Club Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse of Oklahoma, Inc. was the only group solely dedicated to ending child abuse before it begins. In 2010, the organization approached S Design. They needed a new name and identity that would succinctly and powerfully reflect their extraordinary mission. With our help, they became “Parent Promise.”

The name has multiple levels of symbolism. A parent promise is the unspoken promise from parent to child that the parent will love, cherish and care for the child; it is a trust that should not be broken. Promise is an indication of future potential for excellence or achievement. Through free education programs and one on one visits, Parent Promise helps clients realize their full potential as parents. This promise is also a commitment that the organization makes to its clients and to the public: that it is dedicated to ending abuse before it begins.

The brand identity visualizes their mission. Multiple hearts, the universal symbol of love, are combined to form a star symbolizing Parent Promise as a guiding light to parents in need. A star is something that is wished upon and the combined meaning is a promise of love to a child. The five hearts represent the five protective factors Parent Promise teaches to clients, and the star within a star represents a parent’s potential to grow with Parent Promise’s aid, and to become a star in the life of their child.

The Head of the Oklahoma Regatta in 2008 was to be a centennial event, attracting rowers from all over the world to a market relatively new to the sport. When it was determined that the regatta would serve as a qualifying event for the 2010 Olympics, the OKC Boathouse Foundation decided to host an “Olympic Village” to garner interest and support from the community.

The event identity for The Olympic Experience is comprised of simple and beautiful curved geometric forms indicative of water, using contemporary bright colors to remind viewers of both action and flame, reminiscent of its inspiration, the Olympic rings and torch. The event logo symbolized Oklahoma’s burning dedication to the Olympic spirit.

Oklahoma athletes from past Olympics as well as potential future Olympians gathered to represent their sport, to meet citizens and to share the excitement and spirit with a new generation of spectators. Large elliptical structures stood in the space, marking the area for each sport. On the reverse of the elliptical, viewers could read terms from the sport, prompting discussion and questions for the athletes. Banners depicting athletes participating paired with other banners offering little known facts about the sport hung within the space, inviting the spectators to come closer and learn more about the sport. Children especially benefitted from the experience, while Oklahoma athletes found a new enthusiasm for their representative sports.

The Body Buddy is a non-absorbent lotion applicator. It was previously marketed in the beauty industry as a lotion applicator and to senior citizens with limited mobility, but the inventor recognized its potential in the spa industry. Body Buddy had grassroots beginnings that had begun to take hold. However, the original logo was dated and reflected a more “homemade” product. In order to be taken seriously in the high-end spa markets, the mark needed reinvented.

Feedback from retail customers told us the branding needed to be more modern and spa-like. The original logo served as a descriptive mark to illustrate the use of the product, but now it was time for a brand that would look good on the shelf in the lobby of an upscale spa or retail space.

We designed a new brand to appeal to women of all ages. We left behind the handmade feel and went to a high-end retail look. The simple shapes in the logotype attest to the simplicity of the product, and the curved and stretched forms suggest not only the extended reach product itself, but the beauty of a well maintained female form.

We also introduced a more contemporary color palette, updating their teal to a vibrant green and rich brown that allowed the branding to feel at home in a clean, high-end retail or spa atmosphere while still standing out from competitors.

Since the introduction of the new brand, Body Buddy’s products have been stretching the competition.

The Economic & Community Development department of the Tri County Technology Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma needed to separate itself from the technical school in order for area businesses to understand it was a serious, high-level consultation service. It offers customized, top-caliber business solutions–both strategic and tactical–to business leaders and management employees, competing with–and often out-performing–those of private consulting groups, at a fraction of the cost.

Once the new name was established, S Design created an identity and branded materials for them that would visually establish The Strategy Center as competent and professional. The mark is made of interconnecting lines that form a unified shape, symbolizing how a relationship with The Strategy Center creates a strengthened organization, allowing businesses to better reach their full potential. The mark is bold, reflecting the impact The Strategy Center has not only on area businesses, but upon the Oklahoma economy as a whole. Like links in a chain, the mark represents The Strategy Center’s role in an overall effort to improve Oklahoma area businessesthrough professional development, business consulting and coaching, and a range of business services.

The brand release was a hit, and has put them on center stage in northeastern Oklahoma.

The OKC Boathouse Foundation approached us to create an identity for the Boathouse District. From that parent brand, they wished to also create logos for the sports and facilities located on the Oklahoma River, which has rapidly emerged as one of the preeminent urban aquatic venues in the world.

The unique sense of “place” had to play into the identity to make it both unique and genuine. The triangular shapes in the left of the logo are patterned after the distinct Elliott and Associates designed triangular boathouses found in the district. The columns on the right represent both the distance markers along the river and the lines found on the boathouses themselves. The vertical reflection is indicative of water, as the top triangular boathouse and columns shape is mirrored below, and the overall shape is of the hull of a boat cutting through water. All the visual elements combine to create a star—the Boathouse District’s Champion Star.

The marks have been making waves in the community, giving the Boathouse District an identity the international rowing community and Oklahoma City can get behind.

Thomas Metals Group is the premier metal collections/resale company in Oklahoma. Their short history has earned them a reputation for honesty, quality customer service and the highest returns for the client. Thomas Metals Group has taken a product traditionally thought of as waste, scrap metal, and, through a transformation of the traditional business model, has repositioned these metals in their true form–as a global commodity. In direct opposition to their competition, they have provided the client with a transparent business model, adding accountability to the process. Their process ensures clients get optimal returns in the global commodity market on their scrap metal and builds a long-term relationship founded on trust.

The geometric shapes within this mark form a modern day monogram. Thomas Metals Group has developed a modular system for gathering, transporting and reporting for metal recycling. This modular logo represents the organization of different metals or processes. The monogram is a visual representation of the “Mod Boxes” which streamline the sorting of materials and increase the transportation process to market. Its solid, simple structure is masculine, industrial and reflects the bold ideas rooted within the company.

The brand continues to expand through application on company vehicles, leave behind Mod Boxes and collateral materials. The mark has given Thomas Metals Group a professional look that makes us even wish we could somehow recycle metal. Anyone want this lamp?

The Humphrey’s Company is a third generation company with experience in freestanding retail development, real estate and commercial properties. The Company’s civic mindset, desire for urban revitalization and new contributions to the Oklahoma City landscape created a need for a new trademark to refresh their brand. The overall goal was to create a mark that said “Humphrey’s Creates Communities”.

The mark had to tie into a fresh urban aesthetic and so we looked for a simple and direct approach. On the surface, the mark relies on the importance of the family name and recognition, which we combined with the style of a placard to symbolize the connection to urban development. A placard often brands a building with the name of the developer or company who created it.

The mark has been applied to company stationery, personalized business cards, a website, collateral material and office signage. Grant Humphrey even purchased a ferris wheel for one of their newest development projects and we hope we can sneak a ride once it’s up and running.

Cultivate Your Life is a personal life coaching practice that supports individuals who feel stuck and need help to create a clear vision of what they want out of life. Through the co-creative process, the life coach helps the client gain clarity and insight into where they have been, where they are and where they want to go. Through focused listening and coaching, the client learns skills to help them set goals and create a life plan that gets results. Life coaching is a fairly new field, and Cultivate Your Life is positioned to be a trendsetter in that field.

Our client, Mary, wanted Cultivate Your Life’s brand identity to capture the process in life planning, and her desire to help individuals create a life they love living through nurturing their natural skills and talents. This organic process is reflected in the brand. The mark uses the organic leaf shape to form a spiral, which emphasizes the process and controlled growth as found in fibonacci numbers or the golden ratio. The shape also illustrates the process of growth and represents the path a life coach guides their client along. The color palette includes a fresh yellow green for growth and a lively red to represent the friction of change and the energy that follows. As green and red are opposite colors they play off one another nicely and vibrate to enhance the rhythm in the mark.

Several office hugs and staff trust falls later we coached Cultivate Your Life into the perfect brand solution. Thank you Mary.
